Last updated 1 August 2026 · Winnow is made by Tansfom, LLC.
The Winnow app does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data.
This website is a separate matter, and uses analytics. Both are covered below.
Winnow asks for access to your Photos library. It needs this to do its job: reading the capture times of your photos so it can group camera bursts back together, showing you those photos, and deleting the frames you choose to reject.
That access is used only on your own Mac, while you are using the app.
Winnow stores one file on your Mac, inside its own sandboxed container:
reviewed.json — a list of which photos you have marked as reviewed, so bursts you have finished with stay out of the queue. It contains photo identifiers local to your library and the dates you reviewed them. It contains no images, no personal information, and never leaves your Mac. Deleting the app removes it.
Winnow also remembers small interface preferences, such as the height of the filmstrip.
Because the app makes no network requests, no data can leave your device through it.
This site — the pages you are reading now — uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people find useful. That sets cookies and sends your IP address and browsing activity on this site to Google.
This applies to the website only. It has nothing to do with the app, which contains no analytics of any kind and never connects to the network. Nothing about your photo library is visible to this site, or to us.
If you would rather not be counted, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on, and any content blocker will also do it.
When you delete frames in Winnow, they are moved to Recently Deleted in Photos, where macOS keeps them recoverable for 30 days. Winnow performs deletions through Apple's PhotoKit framework, so macOS asks you to confirm each one.
Winnow does not collect data from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new date.
